The Hong Kong prize is a prestigious annual award presented by the city’s public universities to students for their academic achievements and outstanding contributions in community service, leadership, and other related fields. The winner receives a cash prize of HK$1 million, a certificate, and a trophy.
The competition is open to all enrolled Hong Kong secondary school students. Participants must be nominated by their teachers. Entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges. The top 20 student artworks will be shortlisted for the judges’ prize. In addition to the judges’ prize, a HK$20,000 award will be given to the winning school.
This year, the HK Prize has expanded its scope to include more social and environmental themes, such as fostering a sense of belonging among young people. It also recognizes the impact of technology on our daily lives and encourages creative thinking. The competition’s jury includes experts from various fields, including art, education, and business.
A total of 10 winners have been selected for the HK Prize this year. The winning entries range from a community-driven initiative to an app for the visually impaired. Moreover, this year the prize has been awarded to a project that addresses the plight of migrants in Hong Kong and a new app designed to help them connect with their communities.
