Awarded by the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation and title sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, the BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PRIZE is intended to reward scientific research work completed primarily in Hong Kong or universities, industry-education-research bases and institutes set up by Hong Kong higher education institutions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, for the innovative exploration and application of R&D achievements, and their transformational impact on Hong Kong society. The prize aims at inspiring science researchers and innovators in Hong Kong to continue to innovate and explore the unknown, establish themselves in Hong Kong, serve the nation and contribute to the world.

The prize, which is worth HK$2 million sponsored by the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, will be presented at a ceremony on October 17 in the Hong Kong Palace Museum. The prize will be awarded to five scientists and two teams, recognizing their pioneering achievements and the influence of their research in advancing the development of the Greater Bay Area.

Winners will be given the opportunity to present their winning submissions to key stakeholders in Hong Kong’s international development efforts. BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Innovators Prize is open to individuals and teams from all over the world, who have made outstanding contributions in the fields of Life Science, Physical Science and Mathematical Sciences, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and New Materials and Energy. To qualify for the award, submissions should have been published in a peer-reviewed journal, and must be able to demonstrate how the research work has had a significant impact on the advancement of the field in which they have worked.
