Hong Kong Pools

Hong Kong’s scorching summer weather may have you dreaming of junk trips and afternoons at the beach, but if you’re looking for a little cooling relief, the best thing to do is head to one of the city’s amazing hongkong pools. These stunning, rooftop pools offer a refreshing alternative to the busy public and government-run swimming pools, plus you get to enjoy (semi) private time, top-notch facilities and spectacular views while sipping on a tipple!

The swanky pools found at a number of hotels in the city are open to both hotel guests and non-hotel guests, meaning that you can take a dip without having to spend the night! But be warned, these are not your run-of-the-mill pool — they are usually found on the tippy-top of skyscrapers and come with bottom-to-ceiling glass and LED wall displays that create a really cool atmosphere.

Some of these hongkong pools have a bar, too, so you can unwind with your favourite cocktail while soaking in the incredible scenery. The rooftop pools at the Four Seasons are a good example of this, as their dazzling infinity pool looks like it’s right up against Victoria Harbour itself and the Hong Kong skyline. And then there’s the swanky rooftop pool at Harbour Grand Kowloon, which boasts comfortable lounge chairs around its unique infinity pool – perfect for relaxing after an active day in the sun!

While some of the city’s hongkong pools are only available to hotel guests, many can be enjoyed by non-hotel guests for a small fee. The LCSD website has a list of all the swimming pools, including their opening hours and prices.

If you want to splash out a bit more, there’s always the rooftop pool at the Ritz-Carlton. The high-rise pool is surrounded by bottom-to-ceiling glass, offering breathtaking views of all of Hong Kong. Plus, the mirrored ceiling and LED wall display create some truly mesmerising effects!

There are also plenty of public swimming pools, but they can be rather dirty and crowded. The Pao Yue Kong swimming complex in Wong Chuk Hang is one of the largest, with a main 50m pool, diving pool and two kids’ pools. It’s a great place to swim laps, practise your dives and let the kids burn off some energy!

Another popular option is Bride’s Pool, a series of waterfalls and crystal clear pools near Tai O in the New Territories. A popular hike, this family-friendly destination is well worth the sweaty one-hour trek. But it’s not just about the water — you’ll also have the chance to see some fantastic mountain views and scenery.
